The conference will take place in St Andrews, Scotland, from 10th – 13th of August.
St Andrews is a wee medieval town on the East Coast of Scotland. It is home to the third oldest University in the English-speaking world (founded in 1413), as well as to a popular sport involving hitting little white balls with sticks. St Andrews has been a popular destination since medieval times, when pilgrims came to see the relics of St Andrew in the Cathedral (whose very impressive ruins are worth a visit). In the 16th century, John Knox effectively started the Scottish reformation from St Andrews, and you can still see traces of this event everywhere around town. St Andrews has two fantastic beaches – the West Sands famously featured in the film ‘Chariots of Fire’. St Andrews is also home to the fudge doughnut – it’s well worth a try.
We have collected a few suggestions for places to stay and things to do. For a little visual taster of St Andrews, we can recommend the ‘Visit St Andrews’ Instagram account. You can also find out more about the town and suggestions for activities on the Visit St Andrews page.
